It's an age-old debate: which is harder to hit, a golf ball or a baseball? The baseball depends (significantly!) on who's pitching, while the golf ball just sits there and taunts you, always the same, a perpetual torment.
Luckily for most of us, we don't have to face big league pitchers, and if nothing else, we can go somewhere where the golf ball at least has a perfect lie. Sports entertainment concepts are increasingly prevalent and present us with another choice to make: where should I go tonight, Home Run Dugout or Topgolf? We've put together some things to consider below.
Fun
Look, we know that you know that you're reading this on Home Run Dugout's website, so you probably expect a bit of bias, but both of these concepts are super fun. There's little debate about that.
Difficulty
As mentioned before, that little golf ball is just plain mean. If you're a regular golfer, you'll enjoy the benefit of a clean lie -- but if you're a newbie, well, good luck! You will likely leave humbled, but if you do get ahold of a few pure shots, that might be the inspiration you need to take some lessons, which Topgolf offers.
Home Run Dugout is home of the "7mph fastball," meaning we've slowed things down with our patented ground-up, soft-toss pitching machine. We also use a larger ball, so you've got a larger target. And if you're not exactly a power hitter, you can also turn on the boost, so anyone can hit a home run.
Games
Both venues offer a suite of games to virtually up your experience. Topgolf has been around longer, and as such has a more extensive collection. HRD has several different experiences, including a team game, great for corporate events and birthday parties. Side games and bets with your friends are common at both.
Convenience
Well, Topgolf has a bit of a head start on us, so you're more likely to be close to one of them than to Home Run Dugout. But check out our locations page to see if there is one coming soon to a location near you.
Food
You're gonna be well fed either way!
Decision made? Ready for some fun?
You really can't go wrong, but we certainly hope you'll check out Home Run Dugout. There are folks out there who have described us as "Topgolf for baseball" -- who knows, maybe someday they'll say Topgolf is Home Run Dugout for golf!
